Reimagine, Reduce & Reuse Waste to a Sustainable Future with Upcycling!
From Waste to Resource: Inspiring Sustainable Action Through Upcycling
With one of the highest recycling rates in the world, the Swiss system exemplifies efficiency and environmental commitment, successfully recycling over 50% of municipal waste. Participants explored how adopting similar habits can drive impactful change.
GEAF launched its first in-person activity, Reimagine, Reduce & Reuse Waste for a Sustainable Future with Upcycling, through an interactive booth at the University of Geneva. The initiative brought together students, university staff, sustainability advocates, and local partners to raise awareness of waste sorting, recycling, and upcycling as practical tools for responsible consumption.
The booth also served as an educational platform, combining expert contributions from Association Suisse Upcycling and RE&UPcycling Expo with one-on-one exchanges, visual displays, and practical upcycling ideas. By encouraging participants to rethink waste as a resource, the event connected local student engagement with broader efforts to promote circular economy practices and sustainable lifestyles in Geneva.
Impact
GEAF’s upcycling booth translated awareness into practical engagement on waste reduction and circular economy practices. Reaching approximately 300 participants and supported by two partners, the initiative fostered dialogue on waste sorting, recycling and upcycling.
