Eco-Futures Exhibition (Nigeria)
Exploring Sustainability Through Art, Creativity and Environmental Reflection
Green future starts now: the Eco-conscious art exhibition
In a world facing unprecedented environmental challenges, art offers a unique lens through which to engage, question, and inspire. This exhibition brought together artists whose work embraces sustainability, not just as a theme, but as a practice.
Building on the success of the first edition of Eco Futures in Geneva, GEAF organized a second edition on 20 September 2025 at the Center for Art & Creative Talent in Abuja, in collaboration with GEAF Ambassador Farida Nabegu. The exhibition brought together local artists, community actors, and children from the Wassa IDP School to explore the role of art in advancing environmental awareness and social empowerment.
Through canvas painting, craft, design, and upcycled creations, the exhibition highlighted the links between climate change, waste pollution, community resilience, and creative advocacy. By showcasing works produced by local artists and children from displaced communities, Eco Futures Abuja demonstrated how artistic expression can foster inclusion, support community engagement, and contribute to sustainable development through locally grounded action.
Impact
Eco Futures Abuja strengthened GEAF’s international visibility by bringing together local artists, community partners, children from Wassa IDP School, and environmental advocates around sustainability and creative expression. Through community-based participation, locally produced artworks, and upcycled creations, the exhibition expanded engagement beyond Geneva and reinforced art as a tool for environmental awareness, inclusion and community empowerment.
